Our telephone lines are open from 8am to 6:30pm Monday to Friday.
The busiest time of the day is between 8am and 8:30am, we appreciate that this is due to patients trying to obtain urgent same-day care, however, if you are looking to make a routine appointment, enquire about test results or other aspects of your care then please avoid our peak times and to reduce your wait time to speak to our receptionists.

Enhanced Access - Evening and Weekend Appointments
Need a routine appointment with a GP, Nurse, or Pharmacist in the evening or on the weekend? We offer an 'Enhanced Access Service' in North Cumbria for your convenience.
Appointment times:
- Weekdays (Monday to Friday): 6:30pm to 8pm (Castlegate & Derwent Surgery or Maryport Health Services)
- Saturdays: 1:30pm to 6:30pm (CHoC, Wigton Hospital)
- Sundays: 8:30am to 1:30pm (CHoC, Wigton Hospital)
For more information, please ask our receptionists. NHS 111 and the CHoC Out of Hours service remain available for urgent health needs.
Life Threatening
Call 999 or go to A&E now if:
- you or someone you know needs immediate help
- you have seriously harmed yourself – for example, by taking a drug overdose
A mental health emergency should be taken as seriously as a medical emergency.
Urgent But Not Life Threatening
Visit an urgent care centre if:
- You have an urgent medical issue requiring on the day attention
Non-urgent
Use NHS 111 if:
- You need help now, but it’s not an emergency
There will be someone to provide you with advice and to direct you to a clinician if it is necessary.
